Add your pledge to the bottom of the page if you have a wiki account (the password is the same as your HMS account) but if you can't access let the trustees know. Your pledge money will be requested once the pledge is fulfilled and once we have the money the laser will be purchased.

Pledge Aims
£3600 - Base pledge for the Boxford Laser Cutter and assorted parts:
* 100W Laser
* Lightburn based controller
* Built in chiller
* Camera with automatic laser focus (the autofocus will be repaired and may not be immediately available)
* Rotary attachment (brand new/unused)
* 1 x Lens with narrower beam for deeper cutting
* 2 x Lenses best for engraving and shallow cuts (caveat; we are not allowing members to swap lenses they may be used in particular workshops however)
* Misc Spare materials (will be used for workshops)

If we reach £3600 and go over money will go towards the below items:

* Transport and installation
* Spare mirrors and lenses
* Improvements to the laser area
* Running the Hackspace

Pledge Money for Laser Time and Inductions Information
Like the first laser cutter pledge we will be allowing the pledge money to be also used against the cost of using the laser in the future.

It has been decided by the Trustees the cost will not be increasing from £3 per hour which is judged to keep it at a good, affordable level and cover usage, parts and repairs.

To use the new laser cutter you will need a safety and Lightburn software induction. If you have already had an induction on the current laser this will be free and these will be done in groups. The laser team is prepared to commit the time to do this.

Inductions for members not already inducted on the current laser will continue to be paid one to one sessions bookable on HMS (cost £20).

Information and Background on the Boxford Laser Pledge
We were recently offered the opportunity to purchase a laser cutter that is surplus to the requirements of the owner. The machine in question is a Boxford 100W with A0 (1300mm x 900mm) bed.

It was purchased in 2021 and has had relatively little use, mostly during Covid when their primary business was on hold.

The machine has a built in chiller, air assist compressor and advanced control panel with screen. It also has front and back pass-through panels that are easily opened and closed, allowing sheet materials larger than the bed to be processed. To assist in maintenance all parts of the system are accessible by removable panels.

Also included is a rotary attachment which has not yet been used. There is also a camera to assist in positioning work on the bed accurately.

The laser has been well looked after with the honeycomb bed in excellent condition with only a little residue. It has been tested by the laser team doing cuts and engraves.

The user had a small fire in the machine that led to one of the clear lid panels being damaged. This has now been made good but unfortunately it also affected the auto focus system which is currently not working and we will be seeking to fixing this as part of the pledge. Other than this, the machine is in good condition and is recommended to us by Dominic and is recommended by the Laser Team for purchase.

Software is Lightburn which is one of the best laser control programs currently, allowing use of many different file formats including both raster and vector files.

When new this machine cost £8932, but the owner is looking for £3500 for a quick sale and we want to fix the autofocus for an additional £100 for £3600 total.

Our Current Laser
The current laser cutter was discussed in the last Members Meeting, and rightly the question was raised about fixing or improving the current laser cutter.

Our current laser cutter is currently over 9 years old and in recent times (3-4 years) we have seen multiple problems develop which despite servicing by a professional engineer continue to plague us.

Lasercut software on the PC has always been unreliable, sometimes failing to load files, even the regularly used induction files from both hard drive and removable media and failure to download files to the laser for cutting. Multiple attempts usually result in success but there is no pattern to the problem.

Intermittently the laser head will jog around 10mm to either left or right while cutting and continue while maintaining the offset.

While the base bed on the laser is level, both knife and honeycomb beds have problems with the honeycomb bed having a significant dip in the middle, this may be contributing to uneven cutting with parts of projects not cutting through completely.

We have also had instances of the cut becoming random during a session, which can result in a waste of materials.

While some of these issues could be resolved by modifying the laser, we are faced with it being taken offline for indeterminate periods while work is done and tested. This could cause upset amongst users of arguably the most popular tool in the Hackspace, especially as there is no guarantee of the machine being fixed by this work.

The Laser Team recommends this Pledge Drive to raise the funds required to purchase the Boxford as it will quickly solve the current issues, while giving a significant upgrade in laser performance (25% power increase and much wider capabilities with Lightburn).

FAQ
How/when will the new laser be installed?

The seller wants it gone ASAP so it could arrive quickly. If we can arrange installation at the same time this will be announced to all members. The lift is currently out of order so will depend on that being fixed.

The new laser will require a short reinduction as noted before, but these can't occur until the new laser is installed.

What is happening to the old laser?

It will hopefully find a buyer since it is in working order. If you are interested, contact the Trustees!

Pledge List
Add your pledge to the bottom of the page if you have a wiki account (the password is the same as your HMS account) but if you can't access let the trustees know. Your pledge money will be requested once the pledge is fulfilled and once we have the money the laser will be purchased.

We are reviewing the pledge list on Saturday 5th of August.

When paying the code will be LASER2023-XX where XX is your initials.

http://nottinghack.org.uk/calender/open-hack-nights/
On Wednesday nights from 6:30pm the space is open for the public to use the tools and go on the tour. This makes it the best time to invite potential members to the space.

Giving tours
If you're around on any Open Night, you might notice people giving tours. The people giving tours have been authorised by the Membership Team to do so. This is to ensure that tours given on Open Nights include all the pertinent information prospective members need to receive, as well as making sure the prospective member is given a pleasant, accurate impression of the space.

Spotting a Visitor
Most first-time visitors to the space will walk in and look lost. They might look for Ein the Duck, but more often than not, they will wander around a bit and look confused.

You can go up to them and say "Hi!" Or ask them if they need any help. If they say they're interested in seeing the space, or want to know more, or want to become a member, ask them if they want a tour of the space.

If they have bikes, show them to the bike parking area, rather than leaving them in the comfy area, or, god forbid, the hallway.

Don't forget to introduce yourself!

What is the space?
It's always good to start the tour with a brief explanation about what the space is. Call it a communal workshop space, call it a group shed, call it whatever you want - whatever your definition of a hackspace is. Point out that it's entirely funded by member dues and contributions, and members make all the decisions and work together to make the space what it is. Everything is volunteer driven, and members are expected to put in a bit more than they take out.

Ask the visitors if they've heard of hackspaces before, and how they heard about our space. They might have friends who are members, they might have seen our website, they might even be members of other spaces.

What do members get?
Start telling them all about what members get - access to all the tools and consumables, a say in how the space is run, how it works, and where the money goes, access to the wifi, and 24-hour access to the space itself. Bring up the Google Group as a great place to get info about what goes on in the space, the wiki and website have shedloads of information, and there are volunteer teams that take responsibility for parts of the space - like the Laser Team or the Membership Team or the Snackspace Team, and there's a Team Slack where people can talk and plan.

Point out the magnetic lock on the door and how members need an RFID card to get in. Any RFID card or dongle that can be read by the system can be used - including City cards, bus cards, Mango cards, Oyster cards, work IDs, etc. Point out that some cards will function for the door but not function with the laser cutter, so we give out plain white cards for free with membership.

What's in the space?
This is the bulk of the tour, pointing out all the neat tools and consumables we have for them to use. You can go in any direction you want, generally Upstairs first then Downstairs.

Upstairs
Comfy area!
Comfy Area
Things to point out:
*The comfy couches and the nice lighting. Say it's a nice place to relax, eat, work on laptops, read, do small crafty things, or just generally chill out.
*The musical instruments and tell them about Folk and Old Time Music night that occasionally happen on Monday nights - open to the public and for all skill levels. They also have a Facebook group where they share pieces and organise their activities.
*The projector and computer, telling them about how they can show videos or presentations, and how we occasionally have member-only Bad Movie Nights on Fridays.
*The Library, including how the books are long-term loans or donations, and cover a wide range of subjects.
*The museum of obsolete technology.

Studio!
Studio
Things to point out:
*The good lighting and tables making it great for working on not-too-messy projects.
*How we have workshops in this room because it's easy to organise. If you know of upcoming workshops, talk about them.
*Large-project storage and how it's used and what it's used for. If you know about some of the projects on there, point them out in particular as things people are doing at the space.

Vending Machine!
Show off that the vending machine vends food.

Point out that, for members, the same RFID card that got them into the space can be used to start their vending machine tab, which they're reminded about monthly.

Point out the Space Raiders. You know you want to.

Members Storage Room!
Members Storage
Point at a storage box and tell them that every member can buy a storage box for £5 and use it to store things so they don't have to cart everything back and forth.

Point out that room is tight.

Textiles Workshop!
Textiles Workshop
Things to point out:
*Intended as the cleanest crafting space, no glue or sticky tape.
*Industrial sewing machine and overlocker, saying that with any large tools, if you ask on the Google Group, someone can show you how to use them safely. If they ask what an overlocker does, show them an example of the stitches.
*the embroidery robot, good opportunity to mention RF id and Inductions.
*The craft desk and all the supplies on it, including that these are all consumable as you see fit.
*The storage area, including the fabric, the hand-knitting yarn, the machine-knitting yarn, the beads, the leather, the paper, and all the other bits and pieces that make up the craft area. Mention that we have several sewing machines, knitting machines, bead looms, and other tools for craftwork, and they're all available to be used, as well as all the consumables are to be used up as anyone sees fit.
*If they seem to think that they'll never need anything from the craft area, point out the googly eyes or the glitter. Because, sometimes, you need eyes. Or glitter.
*The cutting table and how it's great for working on large projects that need spreading out.

Toilets!
Toilets
Point out the toilets, they are Unisex, there is additional bolt on the outer door for greater privacy, Cleaning materials, bin bags are at the back.

Kitchen!
Kitchen
Things to point out:
*The oven, toaster, microwave, kettle, urn, hot plates (above the cupboards), dishwasher, and other cooking implements for making delicious things
*The pantry/communal food storage area and fridge. Make sure they know that they're responsible for it if they put their name on it, and that clean-outs do happen.
*The tea and coffee, and how it's always free. Donations are more than welcome, whether it's cash in the tin or going out to get milk when it's out.

Main Workshop!
Workshop
Before you go into the workshop, point out that it's very noisy and you might have periods where you can't talk or you'll have to shout.

Don't shout if you don't want to. You can ask people to briefly stop working on their projects when you're in that area.

Sink and Screenprinting!
Pull out one of the screenprinting frames to show off the kind of things we do with screenprinting. Point out the UV cabinet (but don't open it!) and then point out the giant sink and how great it is for washing anything that doesn't belong in the kitchen.

Safety Equipment!
Personal Protective Equipment Store
Briefly point out the safety equipment before you leave the workshop. Make sure they know it's there when they need it.

RFID Induction Hijinx!
Things to point out:
*How the induction system works with some tools. Try it out with your RFID card for "DENIED" fun!
*The Embroidery Machine and the nice examples on the wall.
*The 3D Printer and the nice examples we have.

Woodworking Area!
Things to point out:
*The big pillar drill (another pledge drive!)
*The hand tools, including how we're in the process of replacing our bad/not-so-great tools with really nice professional-level tools, such as the new drills.
*The small power tools, and how if you're not comfortable with a tool, just ask for help.
*Radial arm saw, good opportunity to talk about dangerous tools in the hackspace, some which do not require inductions, how to get help using them Nottinghack WIKI and google groups, YouTube if you just need a refresher.

Consumables!
Things to point out:
*Everything on that shelving can be used.
*All the bits can be used.
*Most of them have been donated by members. But we also have a team that buys bits and pieces that we need in bulk, like good screws and hot glue sticks and things like that.
*If they ever want to put something on wheels - show them the wheels box.

Laser Cutter!
Laser Area
Things to point out:
*The laser cutter works wonderfully on acrylic, MDF, plywood, card, leather, foam and some types of rubber. Show off examples from the scrap piles.
*It doesn't work on metal, glass, and it makes felt too fuzzy and biscuits inedible.
*You need an induction to use the laser cutter. Why? Because the laser cutter itself can get out of alignment very easily, the software is difficult to understand, and if you're not careful, it WILL catch on fire. Show off the burnt piece of wood.

Spray Booth!
Spray Booth
Things to point out:
*Fully ventilated - dust doesn't come in, fumes don't go out.
*Hooks and places to leave things to dry.
*This might be a good place to also bring up the Do Not Hack policy. If it has a name, a date, and says Do Not Hack - leave it alone!

Bike Area!
Things to point out:
*MOVE to 2.5 down stair
*All the bike tools
*All the bike bits
*Bike parking for members - a nice safe place to park if they're going into town.
*Lots of members know about bikes - ask the Google Group for help.
*No, we do not need your bike parts, thank you.

Donations!
Things to point out:
*Whilst donations are appreciated, the area can be difficult to manage if it's abused and used as a dump.
*Post on google groups if you have something to donate to see if it's wanted
*That we like getting donations of things that work or can be broken down into good consumable parts.
*That we do not like getting CRT monitors or TVs, large computer cases, broken computer bits, junk, rusty metal, printers or bike parts.

Dusty Area!
Dusty Area
Things to point out:
*The wood lathe.
*The table saw. mention WIKI getting help on the use of, no induction but very hazardous used incorrectly
*The belt sander.
*How this area is separated to keep sawdust at a minimum in the rest of the workshop.
*the planer thicknesser is the only tool needing an induction.
*Every tool needs to be used with exhaust extract engaged

Metalworking Area!
Metalworking Area
Things to point out:
*Myford Metal Lathe! It was purchased by members running a pledge drive - where everyone gets together, decide that they really like a tool, and that they want to chip in to buy it. Say it's from the 70s, and that it came from Beeston, so it's a bit of Nottingham history too. The lathe does two-dimensional metal milling.
*Bridgeport Mill! It was also purchased by a pledge drive, and it does three-axes metal milling. Say that both the mill and the lathe require a one-on-one several-hour induction/training session to use safely, and that you can find out about this on the Wiki or on the Google Group.
*Grinders, welding equipment, saws and other metalworking tools.

Public areas, Bizspace and navigating to the 2.5 downstairs facilities
Things to point out.
*Video surveillance by our landlord, hackspace fined for leaving obstructions antisocial activity.
*Lights come on automatically, can be a delay until you are picked up.
*Hackspace 2.5 signage to help you navigate between floors.
*Position and use of the goods lift (goods only).
*Entrance on Roden street, useful to bring in bikes, bulky materials and tools.
*Large wheely bins outside Roden street entrance, discuss taking out the trash.
*Activities of our neighbours, rehearsal rooms, dance studio, stinky doggy daycare.
the return journey is a good opportunity to discuss hackspace governance, volunteering and outside activities

Downstairs
Blue Room!
Blue Room
Things to point out:
*A place for members to hide out if events are happening - point out the lock on the door.
*A nice place to work if you're away-from-the-office/freelancing. Mention how quiet it is during the day (which may be hard to believe depending on the dance studio's noise levels).
*How monthly Open Members Meetings are held in here on the first Wednesday of every month, and how everyone can have a say in how the space is run, what sort of things are purchased, what the space does, and how the space will work in the future.
*The computer and printers, which are available for members to use if they need to.
*The giant TV, which is also available for members to use.

Electronics Area!
Electronics Area
Things to point out:
*The tools available, including the soldering irons, testing equipment, heat guns, tiny drills, and other bits.
*The huge range of components and consumables, all free for members.
*The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) etching equipment, which means you can create your own circuit boards from scratch. Currently upstairs)
*If they need help on an electronics project, suggest that the Google Group would be a good place to go to look for help. Everyone will have an opinion.
*CNC Lathe
*3D printer, RF ID and inductions
*CNS Router, Workshop sessions.

Hackspace 2.5 Development
Things to point out:
*Member storage expansion.
*Classroom.
*Future development, metalwork general layout expectations, Aspirations for Stairs and wheelchair access and access toilets.
*Talk about the 2.5 nights. Talk about how everyone is helping out. Encourage people to help out.

What does membership get you?
Repeat that membership gets you full 24-hour access to the space and all the tools and consumables, as well as a voice in how the space is run and where the space is going. Say that they can also run to be a trustee, who is legally responsible for the space as a limited liability company.

This is usually when they ask about membership fees. WE HAVE NO SET MEMBERSHIP FEE. It is entirely up to each individual member to decide what they want to pay, and it depends solely on what they think is right for how they are using the space. It's up to each person to decide what the space is worth to them and what they can afford, and it can be changed as their situation changes.

Point out, however, that it costs around £11 an hour to keep the space running. That's just paying the rent and keeping the lights on. That's not fixing anything up or buying new tools.

All membership dues are paid in by standing order. No, we do not take cash. You can change the amount at any time, you can stop it at any time, you can restart it at any time.

We want you to want to be here.

How do they become members?
This is where you bring in a laptop or tablet that has HMS loaded - look around the studio and someone should have it. The process is as follows:

# Person enters their email address into HMS, with the option to sign up for the newsletter.
# Person receives an email from HMS asking them to complete their details.
# Membership team reviews the details (just to make sure it's not a robot), and moves the person into stage 2.
# Person receives an email with all the standing order information, including a Account Reference code.
# Person sets up the standing order at their bank with the Account Reference code.
# Every night, the data is pulled from the bank and entered into HMS. Any new members in the system receive an email with the door codes, as well as telling them to get their RFID card activated.
# Person comes in the next Wednesday, gets their RFID card activated, and boom! Member!

Point out that emails have a tendency to hide in the Spam folders, so to always check before bugging everyone. And that the turnaround, if they're timely with their standing order, is usually a week.
Reiterate how to set up a standing order stressing the importance of using the exact reference we give them, cut and paste, it puts them in control, no contractual obligations, stop, reduce or better still increase payment at any time.

Now sit them down with HMS in front of them and get them to sign up!

Any more questions?
If they have any more questions, you can either answer these yourself, or see if one of the regulars in the studio can answer.

Tell them they're more than willing to go look around at bits, or ask people what they're doing, or just generally enjoy the space. If they have something they want to work on, let them go and do that - after checking that they're comfortable with the tools they want to use.

Set them free, and start the next tour!
Attendees
Every year, we go as a big group and set up the Nottingham Hackspace village. We offer something to EMF attendees (EMF2016 we brought BarBot, Snackspace and Fire Pong) in a canvas tent if possible. There is obviously a cost to this.

If you are interested in joining the village for 2022, please fill in the table below. There is the opportunity for shared transport and to help pay the cost for the village (costs tbc).

We are also trying for 2022 a "pay it forward" ticket pledge drive - so there may be an opportunity to come on a free ticket that members of the Hackspace pledge towards - the trustees will organise the raffle if we get a ticket secured. See the

Food is available on the site not necessitating a shared meal/BBQ stuff for this year. Snackspace will be run however for snacks and maybe morning coffee too!

We are also doing a EMF 2022 Village Pledge to help fund the marquee, tables, chairs and core things for EMF.

Talks/Workshops/Event
A bunch of us are giving talks and/or doing workshops, because we like to hear the sound of our own voices.

Also we'll be doing Nottinghack village workshops. Note below if you're doing it for the village or generally. The rota for the village will be arranged with those doing the workshops based on their availability so add that if you can.
Village Contents
List of things people are bringing to display/have used in the tent. Tent size is aiming for 6x9 meters with tables and chairs inside.

Village size estimate for the application; 6x9m for big tent (54m2). 3x3m for fire pit etc. (9m2) 3x5m for van or storage space (15m2). 3x3m per tent on average and 20 or so tents (9m2 x 20 = 180m2). 54 + 9 + 15 + 180 = 258m2

Item !! Person !! Description
Snackspace || Andrew A and Mike H || Snackspace needs organising but will possibly be a "pay into a box or use your card here" deal will need further discussion so someone isn't stuck looking after it.
Morning Coffee || Mike Haber || Have proper pressed coffee in the mornings for people as part of Snackspace
Lighting || Graham and Ben's kit || Evening lighting (barbot time) using Ben's kit - DMX interfacing using a custom board
Candy Crane Machine dispensing curios || Kate Bolin ||

Nottinghack Village Volunteers
We'll probably do a rough rota for the Nottinghack Village and snackspace so it is hopefully manned most of the daytime to show off projects and assist with Snackspace.

We'd not leave anyone running a workshop alone if at all possible, and if they are we'd otherwise close the tent.

Person !! Availability (Day, time) !! Notes
Andrew Armstrong || Every day, all times || Will be covering Barbot on some evenings and running some events in the tent.

What to Bring
Here are some ideas of things you might want to bring with you.

Item !! Reason
Decent quality long extension lead||If you want power to your tent from the centralised power. 20M reel would be recommended to be sure.
4-way extension lead or similar||Plugs will be limited, bring to ensure you have enough for your devices
Money||Money can buy food and/or beverages
Teacup||Having your own teacup you can re-use will help us out
Medication||Bring your own pain killers/hangover cures, we do not supply this! First aiders will be on site.
Camping Chairs||Chairs have been ordered for village use, bring your own to guarantee a place to sit and for your own tent.
Long Ethernet cable||If you want ethernet in your tent
Micro USB cables||The EMF badge charges via a micro USB cable and you'll probably want a spare for your phone/kindle/tablet etc.
Torch||It gets dark at night
Rubber Mallet||To help put up your own tent and others
Drinks||There is a bar but you might want to bring spirits or other drinks for yourself.
Snacks||To keep your going between meals
Toiletries||Stuff to wash with, towels, toothbrush etc.
Raincoat and Wellies||It will probably rain at some point and it's in a field
Sun Cream||There might be sun at some point and you'll be outdoors
Bug Spray||It's near water and some people have tasty blood
Jumpers, Jacket and Hoodies||It will be cold at night and you'll be outdoors
Painkillers || E.g. Paracetamol/Ibuprofen. Some people get ill, some get hangovers. These are cheap, small and occasionally necessary.
Nottinghack Projects
If you're planning to do a project to take to EMF 2022 and might want to collaborate with others or group together for transport etc, please consider adding a page to this section.

* BarBot - Mouse and volunteers ran BarBot. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun too. They needed at least three people during the event and one coordinator/planner pre- and during the event.

Previous EMF Projects
* Wunderkammer in 2018 setup by Kate in our small village
* Fire Pong - Nottinghack collaboration resulting in an attraction involving fire, giant ping pong bats and 1-D pong. Enormously popular.

The Silhouette Cameo is a computer controlled cutter that can cut through vinyl, card, fabric and paper up to 12 inches wide.
The Cameo supports automated cutting heads, has two carriages (so draw and cut operations can be done in one pass) plus registration marks for aligment, and more.

It was purchased through a pledge drive in early 2018.
Induction Notes
non-induction machine.

Machine Setup
It is worth keeping the backing sheet for the cutting mat. It stops you from needing to refresh the spray mount so often when the glue dries out.

When spraying with spray mount it's worth covering the non-sticky sections of the mat with masking tape, else the rollers of the machine pick up the glue which can effect how well it works.

Its generally worth using the cutting mat most of the time even if you are cutting a full width bit of vinyl. Unless you are a wizard at getting your material perfectly straight the rollers tend towards eating it.

The blade depth doesn't need to be stuck out lots and lots if you are cutting a thin material. For vinyl, paper and thing card usually setting 2 is sufficient.

Before cutting its worth removing the blade to check it doesn't have a build up of fluff round the razor. When cleaning it beware cutting hazards.

Make sure the blade is seated back where it was when you replace it.
Software
The official software for the machine is available online, but costs about £400 see Software (Brother). The space has a license to run a single copy on site. However, there are alternatives:

PE Design
As the Manual explains, if you are just importing and tweaking .bmp files, so you can use any image editor to make your design, then tweak it in PE Design.

Creating a .bmp
Many program can create .bmp bitmaps:

* Paint.net (Windows)
* GIMP (Windows, Linux)
* mtPaint (Windows, Linux)

Other programs can export .png bitmaps which can be converted to .bmp files:

* Inkscape (Windows, Linux)

Induction on the laser Cutter/Engraver
A small team of people will be conducting induction sessions on the new laser cutter /engraver at Nottingham Hackspace. At time of writing (19th May 2014) this team is being trained by Dominic, a member of Just Add Sharks from whom the laser was purchased. Once training is complete, laser instructors will begin organising inductions for hackspace members, with priority to the members who contributed to the pledge drive. The instructors will be undertaking these sessions in their own spare time, so it cannot be guaranteed that someone will always be available.

Laser inductions are one-on-one sessions. You may bring a small laser project if you wish though you must check that your materials are suitable for a laser cutting or etching. Otherwise your instructor will talk you through a few techniques, to demonstrate the process whilst determining that you can safely operate the laser. Inductions cost £20.

INDUCTION PROGRAM
If you have a small project in mind we can use it as part of the induction but please check that the materials you have in mind are suitable for use in the laser - the wrong materials can cause noxious fumes that can permanently damage the mirrors or extraction system, or running the tube too hot drastically shortens it's lifespan. The induction is primarily to make sure that the laser is operated safely, to keep costs low. For example, a spare laser tube can cost in the region of £400 and a new set of mirrors £250 - the hackspace can't afford to be replacing these every month!

The induction will include:

* Setting up and Switching on safely
* Testing alignment of the laser
* Introduction to the cutting software
* Setting up your XY axis, placing your work piece and checking the draw frame
* Engraving
* Cutting
* Suitable file types and how to convert them
* Shutting down

Laser Instructors
While Dominic Morrow is contactable by email, the other instructors are still learning the laser and will be arranging the method of contact shortly. Note all priority of using the laser cutter is for inductions or instructor learning/documenting. - Andrew.

People who are authorised to give inductions:

- Dominic Morrow

- James Hayward

- Jake Howe

Laser Induction Sign-Ups
This list has been cleared to allow for inductions (IND) and Conversions (CON) to be arranged. Inductions on the original A4 (red) laser are NOT valid on the new laser cutter but experienced users can be converted. Please indicate which session you require.
