As part of the ongoing improvements to HMS by the Software team, you can now keep track of your Hackspace projects and print Do Not Hack (DNH) labels at the click of a button! The new system means that all the necessary information for a DNH label is now automatically printed out and ready to be stuck on your project, and even has a space to update the last time it was worked on.

When you log into HMS, the new project and DNH system is found by clicking the ‘Projects’ tab at the top. Using the ‘Add New Project’ button lets you create a new project, simply completing a title and short description is all that’s required. Once your project is saved; simply click the ‘Print DNH Label’ option that appears while in the Hackspace to get your label printed automatically! The printer on the Large Project Shelves will create you a custom sticker containing all the necessary information, ready to be applied.

We went through every project and made sure it was included on the list. Every project also received a beige luggage tag with the user's name on it, as well as a coloured sticker.

The green sticker means that a project has been worked on recently. We have given almost all projects the benefit of the doubt here and "green stickered" them. The only exceptions are projects which were totally abandoned with no information about WHO they belong to or when they were placed on the shelf. These items have received a YELLOW sticker.

Each month the LPS is audited for projects that fall under the following criteria:
 +
*No DNH label attached

*No name or date on a DNH label

*A date older than three months of the date of audit

Next Hack the Space Day, we will reaudit the shelving. If a project has not been touched or moved (ie, there is no change to the "last worked on" date), it will at this point receive a yellow sticker. Those with yellow stickers will receive a red sticker.

Any project falling under one (or more) of the above will have a Notice of Donation label applied, a photo taken, and a list of the projects marked as such posted to the Google Group. Please see below for information on how Notice of Donation labels work.

Items that are red stickered for over a month will be removed from the project storage and broken down into parts/rehacked.

Each month the LPS is audited for projects that fall under the following criteria:

  • No DNH label attached
  • No name or date on a DNH label
  • A date older than three months of the date of audit

Any project falling under one (or more) of the above will have a Notice of Donation label applied, a photo taken, and a list of the projects marked as such posted to the Google Group. Please see below for information on how Notice of Donation labels work.

This process is laid out in full on the guide.

History
