Other News

Slack will close at the end of the year. This is only really an issue for those using it for Direct Messaging.

Metalworking Downstairs

Not much progress here. Approaching several companies for quotes for electrical installation. Slowly but surely moving forward. Stud wall will be a workparty (or similar) and happen at some point in the future.

AGM

Sort of coveed under events.

Team Updates

Another member in membership team would be helpful.

Laser seems to be working well since switching to the old tube. The new laser will be installed once the lift is fixed.

Woodworking - Everything that's happening is on Discord. Reasonable catchup on Tablesaw inductions. Planar Thickness - people have signed up for inducion but we don't technically have anyone to do the inductions right now. Steve has been machining a new gear for the planar - thanks Steve! Talk during open night call about pledge drives for some new woodworking tools. Maybe two new bandsaws (12 inch). New or used? Depends on what is available.

A pledge drive for 3D printing would also be good but there are lots of of opinions about what we should get. Do we want to focus on material options, speed options, etc?

CNC homing switch is playing up - be careful if you are using. If it homes but the switch sticks, it could keep moving and crash into an axis. Somoene left the Z axis partially disamantled - not good.

New switch attached to the Myford. It's more usable, still need to repair the toolpost.

Betty has been repairing some of the sewing machines.

Unrelated ish - Duncan proposes putting pull out storage under the cutting table in the studio. Some shelving maybe , e.g. for the blood bowl stadium.

Financial Update

Nothing for October. Will update at the AGM.

Any other business

Lift still broken.

Left Lion have come for a visit. There will be a piece on the hackspace in the January issue. We've pushed for them to emphasise the community aspect as much as possible.

Andrew W mentions inductions. Should we charge people to do the tour? Hmm - not sure? Mentioned that maybe giving snackspace credit to the tour guides could be an option. Sam mentions that we are encouraging people to give us money by joining, do we want to ask them for more money just to do the tour?
