Prescription Safety Glasses
One size doesn't quite fit all when it comes to protective eyewear - especially for those who wear glasses. Nottinghack has now set up with Boots Opticians to allow members to get prescription safety eyewear; to keep and use inside and outside the Hackspace. The safety glasses you buy are yours - they don't have to be kept inside the Hackspace! Only Nottingham Hackspace members will be able to get the deal.

All packages include the following, and can be redeemed at any Boots Opticians location. You can find out the nearest location on the site during checkout.

There are three material options available. All levels provide appropriate protection for workshop use, however the more expensive packages provide benefits as below:
CR39 - £71
These are suitable for general use in the workshop. CR39 is found in most safety eyewear you'll see. (Wikipedia)
Polycarbonate - £83
These offer a higher safety rating, and are designed for heavy duty usage or areas with a higher likelihood of flying debris. (Wikipedia)
Trivex - £95
These offer a higher safety rating, and are designed for heavy duty usage or areas with a higher likelihood of flying debris. Trivex combines the strength of polycarbonate lenses with the clarity of CR39 lenses. (Wikipedia)
The scheme works as follows:
- Use the link below to fill out your details, and select the appropriate package
- Pay Nottinghack the appropriate amount using reference "NHRXS-XX", where XX is your initials
- Once this is seen by the Trustees and your membership checked, we'll email you your code
- Take the code to the Opticians you nominated
- Have your eye check and talk through your eyewear options with their team
- Get your glasses and hack safer!
