User:Jymbob also has a Laserdisc player, which is also in a state of not-fully-functional.
The Pioneer LD-V2100 is a player from the early 90s. It was purchased with a known fault that no audio is currently output.
Upon initial investigation this was found to not be entirely true: an audio signal is being output, but it appears to be mainly noise. It's suggested that the audio signal may not be getting properly decoded from the Laserdisc so what's being output to the speakers is a data stream.
So far we haven't been able to find a schematic or service manual for this model.
The player is fairly easy to disassemble to the point that most of the boards are accessible, and the screen printing is fairly detailed. We've identified where we believe the signal should be entering and leaving the ADEM board so the next step is to probe those contacts and see what's happening.
