Discounted licenses can be obtained by hackspace members by emailing the Laser team via laser@nottinghack.org.uk. This is useful for testing the software and preparing your files prior to using the laser cutter.
Activating a License and Configuring Lightburn
- Email the Laser Team and request a Lightburn license. The Laser Team will generate a discount code which you can use to buy the software
- Purchase a license for LightBurn Pro - Make sure you enter the discount code which will give you a 75% discount
- Wait for the license to arrive ⌛. It should come through by email.
- Install the software. The first time you open it you will be asked to enter the license information
- Enter your newly purchased license key
- Once the license is activated, the Devices window should appear. You can configure the laser cutter so that the settings will match what we use in the hackspace.
- Click "Create Manually"
- Select the "Ruida" controller from the list and then click next.
- Select Serial/USB and click next
- Set the name to something like "Nottingham Hackspace Boxford"
- Set the work area dimensions to 1300x900, then click next.
- The origin should be the rear-right, then click next.
- Click Finish. The laser wizard will disappear. Select your new laser cutter and then click OK.
