Theft of tools

More drills have gone missing, another propane torch and money from donation tins. I think we need to take some visible action to prevent further theft or track down thieves and kick them out. There are several possibilities, many of which are not complex/technical/expensive/unrealistic things:

  • Visible, indellable marking of tools.
  • Cameras on entrances and exits to log who comes and goes.
  • A trusted group of members who will check and log what tools are present. I started a google docs form thing for doing this some time ago, but didn't get help from others and couldn't do it frequently enough myself to be useful. It only takes five minites. If we had 5 members who did a quick check every time they leave the space that would go a long way to finding out when things are going missing.
