The Brother MFC-5460CN in the corner of the blue room is a scanner, printer and fax machine. It is connected to the network and the scanner function is shared through jarvis.

Scanning from Quorra / WOPR

The Simple-Scan application is installed on both Quorra and WOPR, and will auto-detect the Brother scanner if it is turned on before the application is started. Just put the page to be scanned in the flat bed scanner part of the machine, and hit the scan button in the application.

Setting up on Linux machines

To configure a new Linux machine to see the scanner, edit /etc/sane.d/net.conf, adding jarvis at the end of the file.

Setting up on Windows

Delete Windows, install Linux and then follow the instructions above.
