Asking teams to redo scopes Trustees will start recruiting more members into teams. Teams will submit annual budgets from October. Will allow better budgeting and forecasting for finances. Identified new teams to be created: 3D printing, electronics, laser, metalworking, woodworking MLittle asks: what's the difference between teams such as electronics and resources? SW reads example electronics scope to clarify. AA queries how tools team fits in with woodworking (for example) SW: e.g tools are for large multi-purpose tools SW: whereas woodworking is concerned with woordworking area General agreement that overlap of responsibilties is fine. JH: Many details still to work out. JH: Let us (trustees) know if you want to be on a team. MLittle: What about other areas like comfy area/blue room? JH: There are still gaps to fill. AA: One problem with current teams is that some are unmanned? SW: Trustees will endevaour to find interim solutions to problems such as that. JH: We need better comms between trustees and teams. JH: We need to define (better) how teams + trustees interact e.g. reporting JH: Teams would send report in before open meeting instead of doing "round-robin". JH: Teams may have named contact in trustees. JH: Encourage members to join! SW: Would be good if teams can say how many people they need and how many they have now so we can actively target recruitment. SW: We will send something out in next few weeks about this. Kitchen Revamp: SW: Comfy area revamp was fantastic! Thanks Kate! SW: We want to do the same thing with the kitchen. SW: We have many ideas on google group. Please bikeshed away. List: new containers flooring new taps Proper hobs Extractor hood Better storage For personal/snackspace/resources Redo wiring + new sockets Please ask questions VW: As long as kitchen is easy to clean MLittle: will this be catering grade? Stainless steel tops? MLloyd: Stainless too expensive. General questioning of that. MLittle: is is worth it? RH: Yes JH: Can we get it custom-made? RH: Yes, believe there is someone in the building (for example) MLittle: one worktop along one side (no corners), cabinets under, easy to clean. TJ: Can we just screw a plate of stainless to standard wooden units? RH: Place nearby has +50 types of unit. TJ: Stainless unit sounds better. SW: Do we want an eating table in the kitchen? TJ: Yes MLittle: Breakfast bar? KB: Bar stools are horrible. MLittle: Table is annoying to get round. MLloyd: Bar will be used as storage SW: Can get an extendable. KB: If getting larger cabinets, not too high. KB: Make sure that plumbing can cope with increased usage/abuse. JH: We want running hot water rather than storage heater thing. MLittle: instant hot water thing? MLloyd: £300-400 Michael Erskine joins. KB: Full set of cutlery etc and get rid of random bits. TJ: No induction hobs! KB: Better sealing of smells. Extractor fans and better door. Team Updates: RH: Might be the last time we do these updates: Tools: Nothing to report Crafts: getting loads of e-textiles stuff (LEDs, conductive thread etc). Also paint. Craft team has expanded considerably! Always looking for more people. Esp. if involved in a craft that team doesn't currently cover or we don't have support for. Resources: Nothing to report. Comms: Newsletter went out to 850 people. Comms desperately needs new members! Snackspace: Last month bought 6x boxes of club mate. All of it drunk. Took about 5 weeks to go through. Vending machine: got pushers that should stop things getting stuck. Software: HMS has been updated and we can now push updates from git repo. Membership: 372 members. Audit needs doing. MLloyd: About 145 people paying in new account. Wiki team: About 10 uncategorised pages now. Safety: Everything is fine. KB: we had a donation of junior safety glasses. Thanks to ME for cleaning the toilet door. MG: Noticed generally that there are more instances of behaviour with less regard for the space. MG: e.g. kitchen being left in a state. Washing up not being done. MG: We're not getting across the culture and what we're expecting from them. TJ: People are expecting a service SW: A studio table is covered in glue. JH: Should we get cameras? MG: The kitchen especially. We have a rat in the space. SW: We can work on signage. SW: Makes things more obvious, brighter. AF: Make signage part of revamp MLittle: Broken windows syndrome. If kept clean and tidy, people respect it more. MLittle: cleaner is doing some work, but it's not enough to keep space good enough. KB: Signage: people don't know where bike parking is. MG: People don't know stuff generally. We need to do more about knowledge, not just of space but also how to be good member. MG: e.g induction day/half-day with more hands-on stuff like emptying bins. JH: List of things we should cover on such a day. MG: You're a member of a community, not a user of a service. SW: Trustees would like to use blue room on 18th August. SW: We have a "responsible trustee" system. Each Wednesday there is a responsible trustee. They are there for complaints/issues/difficult questions. Info is on wiki. KB: Responsible trustee should be identifiable. JH: General idea is that team members would re-direct members to the trustee. KB: So if someone wants to talk in confidence they don't need to talk to anyone else. End of meeting.JH: Can we get it custom-made?
