Discussion Points

Teams should provide reports at meetings. These should include financial income (inductions / events ) and expenditure.

Reports should include where relevant

  • Current state of the assigned area and any broken tools.
  • Safety
  • Events
  • Finance
  • Inductions
  • requests for resources.

Not all teams are the same. Difference can be on noted on the teams wiki page. Teams wiki pages can show induction machines for that area.


Areas that require teams have them. Some areas like Kitchen, Blue Room, Studio do not have teams.


Teams should provide reports at meetings. These should include financial income (inductions / events ) and expenditure. Bob email invoice to accounts@nottinghack.org.uk for paper trail.

For teams with equipment bob suggested a Safety component to reports.

(Should there be standard formats to make team reporting easier? Fill in the blanks?

Team Pages should include the standard jobs for teams.

All Members - use tidy, put things back

Team Members - Weekly tidy and sort + non standard Jobs

Inductors - Inductions on machines Inductions should have induction 'scripts' that are available on the wiki.

Maintainers - Maintenance of Machines where required + Is the area Safe?

Team Leaders - knowledge of jobs, discussion of changes and direction of the area. Had the discretion to approve changes to things in the teams area. Overview of team members and jobs.

If a HS member want's to be a team member contact Trustees - trustees need to be aware (for example members who have warnings or complaints in progress might not be suitable for giving tours or inductions).

Teams are for an area or function of the space.

In scope for Team.

For Teams with physical space and equipment. The tools and machinery in the area of the team, for teams with an area.

Altering the space taken up by a team is out of scope of the team. Please don't increase your space.

Improving the layout / software / configuration of equipment in the teams area is encouraged. It must be discussed and agreed with the Team Lead AND documented on Slack before changes.

The Team Lead is responsible for knowing which of these items need to be done, and

  • Maintenance of Equipment in the teams area by named maintainers in the team.
  • Response to Out of Order Requests
  • Inductions on named machines by named inductors in the team
  • Handling of Induction cash.
  • Provide and keep current induction documents. Inductions are done following the induction document.
  • Checks on Cleanliness and Tool Status (lost/broken)
  • Regular Safety Checks on Tools
  • Reporting at Team meetings. Member Inductions income and Expenditure. This should be on the a card.
  • Checks on consumables

Membership of Teams

Teams are volunteers, so thank you to all the members who volunteer for the work on teams.

Membership of Teams is at the discretion of the Trustees - for example members who have complaints against them for misuse of the space, misuse of tools or any other rules might not be suitable for some teams or roles.

Please email trustees@nottinghack.org.uk if you'd like to be on a team, and the role you'd like to have (team member, inductor, maintenance). Ideally discuss with the Team Lead first.
