Announcements and Events

• Radio Group - 2nd Wednesday of every month.
• One Shot Wonders - 22nd October.
• Film Night - Merged into Hackoween
• Coffee and CAD - Third Wednesday of each month
• WikiCleanup - Third Wednesday of each month.

Hack the Space Day will be this Saturday.

Hackoween on 31st. Probably a film, bring some food.

Request for quiet hacking this Sunday 5th. 9am to 5pm. We'll know when they are done because there would be large banging sounds from upstairs.

Happenings

We went to see Hackers. It was a good time. 30th anniversary.

Dee's cyanotype workshop. Reports of good fun.

Swap Shop was quite good. AJ managed to shift a load of rubbish. There were more things than people wanted to take away.

Writers Meetup which AJ organised. It was on the same day as the swap shop. There will probably be two in November. But we don't know when yet.

Film Night - We watched Robot Dreams. It was very sad.

We have got a neon sign. It is very exciting. It can be seen from down the road.

Metalworking Downstairs

Edgar is unfairly looking at AJ.

Still going, slowly. People keep asking AJ to work and they keep saying yes.

As of about 10 minutes ago, AJ is half way there with pulling the cabling for the lighting.

Another AJ-distraction is that their shower drains into the kitchen (which could be helpful?)

We need to move the Warco again 😬 😬 😬 At the next Hack the Space we will try and clear some space for where it will move.

Team Updates

Comms:

Gareth did a very nice blog post about role playing. We also had a guest blog post from South Wales Neon which is cool. You can read them on our website 😎 For the most part we have managed to keep up with one a month. Hopefully that can continue - we just need more voices.

Craft:

There is a pledge drive for a sewing machine. Consider pledging! It's at £165 of £375. The old industrial will be replaced, and a smaller machine. We also had a donation of a manual / hand-driven sewing machine, which is apparently useful for leather work.

Network:

3of9 failed, which was the 48 port switch in upstairs members storage. It has been temporarily replaced with a 24 port switch. New switches have now arrived and will be installed at some point.

Laser:

The laser is working again, which is nice. We thought there might have been an issue with the tube, but it's not. It's nice to have a spare tube though.

CNC:

Douglas has been testing an upgrade to Linux CNC. The current install is old. Someone asked on Google Groups for some pointers about LinuxCNC because they have the same machine to us.

Woodworking:

Edgar, Nathan and Ian have been working on planer inductions. The first one is being conducted as we speak.

Snackspace:

Running low on Club Mate 😱 Vending machines are a bit old. Betty suggests we might want to replace them. It'll take a while for people to hack them into snackspace. Is there interest?

3D Printing:

All the Ender 3s have now been collected. Discussing finally removing the resin.

Safety:

We still need to fix all the fire safety things.

AGM 2025

It is approaching! Probably early December.

Considering venues. Suggestions welcome.

Items for the agenda will be invited soon. Feel free discuss with trustees if you have any ideas, or just submit stuff.

Nick, Nathan and Bob joined at some point.

EMF Camp 2026

It is also approaching.

We should have some meetings and things to plan things.
