Actions and Minutes from last meeting

No actions.

Oh: Left Lion posted our article, mostly a transcription of a bad interview.

Metalworking Downstairs

Douglas: Not much progress. Continuing to contact electricians for quotes. Still working on it.

Work parties will begin again when appropriate.

If anyone has any expertise with stud walling, maybe we (Douglas) can talk about it at Hack the Space day.

The Spray Booth

Chris Reddish -

Quick discussion regarding member's questions relating to the spray booth. How can we make it a bit more multi-use and safe, relating to VOCs etc?

Appears to be appealing for resin moulding, e.g. leaving for curing. Turning off extraction while curing may be problematic, as it's a small area.

Brief discussion with Aaron: More shelving, plus a VOC sensor to trigger the extraction.

Any thoughts?

Douglas? Is this because there are no suitable places for resin? Chris: Maybe not during the curing.

Andrew W: Screen printing room? Drying space just outside the dusty area?

Steve: Partition the spray booth to split it.

Andrew W: Shelving would be a big improvement. Sounds like a good idea.

Steve: Need to look into whether VOC sensors are good enough.

Chris: Two part question - drying area separate to spray booth, vs partitioning the spray booth. Something more permanent might be a spray booth.

Steve: Could a drying area go where current metalworking area is?

Douglas: Shelving would be good if it was foldable in case it got in the way.

Andrew W: A screen over it for overspray would be good.

Chris: We will have more discussion about it on Sunday at Hack the Space.

Bob W: Is anybody making resin table tops?

Team Updates

Andrew W - Not been in before Christmas - couple of sanders seem to have broken in the wood working area. May be worth buying some new ones maybe?

Aaron: Maybe send us some links after looking around on Hack the Space day. We can try to sort out a pledge drive.

Chris R: Laser stuff - everything is fine, John is still doing regular weekly maintenance which is keeping things running well. Moving the new Laser - we have a plan and have done some measuring. Confident it needs to fit through all areas. Agreed a location - upstairs, until we install it. Not decided on a date yet.

Douglas: Could it happen at hack the space?

Chris R: Half the table top gaming team are on call and ready to go 😎 Would prefer a trustee to be present while moving it.

Steve: It would alleviate concerns about the lift breaking again. Belts are all cable tied down and ready to be moved.

Chris R: In that case, I will "crack the whip". If we wont have enough people, we'll see if anyone else can move it.

Steve: Considering "hot-rodding" ender to make it print faster (????)

Chris R: There will probably be a pledge drive soon for a new printer, so not much reason in my opinion to not tinker.

Financial Update

Had one at the AGM. Matt is away visiting family.

Bank balance is £26,656. Up about 2k from September.

Any other business

Howard joined. 🙂

Andrew W: Is that the end?

Steve: yep.

Andrew W: Looking at panel storage outside the spray booth. Why don't we abolish panel storage all together?

Steve: It's certainly heavily abused at the moment and needs clearing out.

Andrew W: Reasoning is - we don't have panel storage, but you can store panel materials. Replace panel storage with project storage. Change it to "large flat project storage" - i.e. still needs to be labelled and has been described as an ongoing project.

Steve: Comes down to who "polices" that and helps clear it out.

Bob: If it's been donated to the space, where is it going?

Chris: There are two trolleys up there and they are currently labelled scrap/donations and storage. Further clairy that it's project storage, not material storage.

Any other comments?
