Announcements and Events
New roll call; not a huge deal, but we were hoping to get more of an idea of how teams are represented. Hopefully teams are all represented at the Memebrs Meeting. Radio Club. Aaron is up for another session where non-HAM users can come in an play with a licensed HAM device, and chat with others on the radio.
One Shot Wonders doesn't have a date yet, but Steve is going to be running something.
Film Night - we're hoping this happens soon. There's a poll; currently Friday is winning.
Hack the Space day is coming up this Saturday the 10th. There will be an effort to tidy out some things from Team Storage - come along.
Long Shots are coming up too - no spaces open at the moment. Same day as the Lino Cutting workshop! So a busy day in the Space. There are still spaces on the workshop.
Happenings
Laser Disc Team are still having fun! Weirdly popular. There's three now.
AJ's making boxes and sawdust.
Election
Nomination window closes on Friday. We still need more people to nominate themselves. The Trustees are all happy to pitch it to you if you're curious.
Nominations will be published on Saturday. If we don't have enough we have to reopen nominations.
Hustings will happen. We're not entirely sure how helpful they are - but it's the only real opportunity to reach out to nominees so likely worthwhile.
Gareth is our Returning Officer again. Yay!
Because of a resignation of a previous trustee, one of the positions is only for a year.
Team Updates
Comms
Blog Team is still going and on course.
Woodworking
Tablesaw blade has been changed and cuts much better.
Is it possible to get blades sharpened? Bob suggests Eastwood or Heanor. It seems they're cheaper to buy. The Heanor place might be interested in sharpening them. Maybe we can get a bulk discount.
Planar inductions have stalled so we need to know how to kickstart that. These are quite tricky tools to write inductions for.
Tablesaw inductions are taking a bit longer than a few weeks to respond to as Team volunteers are busy at the moment.
Part of the thicknesser has failed and we're not expecting to be able to fix it any time soon. Steve may be able to make a replacement, but we're all busy.
There's interest in some of the woodworking team getting together, maybe as a larger group.
Crafts
Embroidery machine seems a bit fussy at the moment. We might want to swap it from the one in Team Storage.
This area needs some more investment. The industrial machine especially is harder to get serviced and parts aren't easy to source. This machine is easy to misuse as it is. Possibly a better domestic sewing machine.
We do need people to report when the issues.
Silhouette machine (cricut type cutting machine) is working and fairly well stocked. There's vinyl available to be cut.
Metalworking
The warco's parts have all arrived. Matt is working on repair.
CNC
Rotary axis machine part is being developed.
Robot event is being schedule, just trying to figure out dates for it.
The three phase electrics for the new bandsaw hasn't been set up yet. No timings on this yet. Electrical engineers start talking about amps. Please seek out them for further information.
Now the electrical engineers are talking about tyres. I have lost track though.
Financial Update
Finance update is same as last time. We're doing well enough, but could always be doing better.
Any other Business
Jarvis Storage
Raised by Jonathan.
Jarvis, the shared network storage, is pretty full. If members could clean up their drive, that'd be super helpful. There's not much ambition to increase the tech for that though.
... but could we? There's mirroring costs and whatnot. But maybe this could be overcome.
Could we have a separate networked device work for this? There are some ideas here. Will the Windows 10 end of life affect us? Not really fortunately.
Closing
Thanks, everyone! End of meeting.
