* Semi-edit but a better branch than above: Using the member's boxes to start with and see how it goes from there. It's suitably out the way to not be annoying, and we've already got names/nicknames and sometimes online handles too. Credit for this one to David H just now. [[User:Froggy|Froggy]] 18:02 21/1/13

Discussion to move this forward as an actual project

  • Can we start by somehow archiving all the discussion that takes place further down? Gmjhowe (talk) 08:00, 21 January 2013 (EST)
    • Yes, just blank it - it'll be stored in the history James (talk) 08:25, 21 January 2013 (EST)
    • Ok, removed everything, left in the 'thumbs up' bit as it has some good starting points in it Gmjhowe (talk) 08:38, 21 January 2013 (EST)

Gathering photographs of people

  • While I want to suggest that I can go around taking nice fancy pictures of everyone, I am aware this has been a limitation of the project in previous attempts. Gmjhowe (talk) 08:45, 21 January 2013 (EST)
  • We should get people to submit their favourite photo, if they don't have one, we tell them to mention it and then I will hunt them down one open night and take a decent picture for them to use both here and elsewhere. Gmjhowe (talk) 08:45, 21 January 2013 (EST)
  • Would it be feasible to make a little copy-paste form on the Wiki so people can just mail us a picture and the info we want if they're stuck for actually seeing someone with a camera? Thinking something like:
Name: Put your name here!
Nickname: Put what people tend to call you here. Keep it clean!
Instructables Name/Website: Do you put your projects up somewhere to see? Tell us where it is.

Thumbs up for the Wall of Faces

After being a member for about a year now i still only properly recognise no more than 10 other members by name and face whilst not really interacting with anyone else because i have no idea who they are.

So a wall of faces with a picture with or without info such as real name, aka name, intersts, skills and so on would REALLY enhance my (guests/visiters/new members/existing members) visits to the space and help to interact more with others.

Plus it would be a nice little starter kit for new members.

A photo-album kept in the member's room would serve the same purpose. And it's more likely that people would agree to opt-in to that, so it would be more useful for security. -- 20:10, 6 April 2012 (EST)
We definitely need to find more Ways we can get to know each other. -- 20:18, 6 April 2012 (EST)
