The space has two Ender 3 3D printers and an Ender 5 Pro currently available for use by members. These are located in the 3D Printer Area and are available for general use. The two Ender 3s are identified by the colour of their controller casing and are known as "Red" and "Yellow"
The PC in the area has various slicing software and a microSD card reader to save your files ready for printing.
In general, members are expected to bring their own filament for prints. Occasionally there may be some donated filament located in the tray, but please check for "Do Not Hack" labels before using, and return any remaining filament after use.
While no specific induction is required, to avoid accidental damage these tools should only used by members with prior experience of 3D printing. If you need basic instruction please contact the 3D Printing team.
In order to keep the machines operational for as many users as possible please:
- bring your own filament
- remove your filament at the end of a print
- leave the print bed clean as you would want to find it
- print from microSD cards rather than via USB
- notify the 3D Printing team of any issues
In future to better manage fair use of the printers, RFID readers are being considered for the 3D printers. For the time being, if you intend to run a long print job where the printer may be left unattended for longer than an hour please post in Discord to let others know.
