Over the years, the woodworking team has put in tremendous effort to keep these tools well maintained and repaired. However, you may have noticed that more recently, quite a few of the larger woodworking tools are out of order, and have been for some time now. This includes some of the larger, more essential tools, such as the two large bandsaws, the bobbin sander and the disc sander. This pledge drive is to replace the tools which are now beyond repair. While the space is doing better financially than it was before minimum membership payments were introduced, we are not in a position to purchase these tools outright. The space will however aim to "top up" the pledge if we are slightly short of the required goal. Your contributions to the pledge drive are very much needed and will be appreciated for many years.

What we're getting

Note: work in progress...

  • Charnwood USED W730 14" Woodworking Bandsaw (£374.17) - Two if possible, as it's useful to have one permanently setup for making straight cuts, and another which can be put into different configurations.
  • A bobbin sander (recommendations welcome)
  • A disc sander (recommendations welcome)

We will prioritise the purchase of one band saw and the sanders. If we can raise enough, we would like to get a second bandsaw.

Since we are still undecided about which exact brand/model to get, the pledge is set for £1000 but this will be adjusted as we firm up the plans.

Pledges

Add your pledge to the bottom of the page if you have a wiki account (the password is the same as your HMS account) but if you can't access let the trustees know. Your pledge money will be requested once the pledge is fulfilled and once we have the money the tools will be purchased.

Please do not make a payment until requested
