Announcement of Events

  • Green Fest - please join us on Sunday 12:00-18:00! Big table needs moving in the morning but we can take the smaller fold up versions.
  • Vintage Computer Collective Swap Shop - September 24th 13:00 - 16:00 - Members interested in vintage computing will be holding a gathering from 13:00 on 24th September in the space. This will be an opportunity to chat, exchange / pass on vintage computing related parts and for a bit of a show and tell of what people have been doing.
  • Hack the Space Day - 14th of October date decided.
  • One Shot Wonders - Next Thursday, lots of activity.
  • Combat Robots - HACKTIVATE - 28th October 09:00 - 19:00 - Please sign up to complete! Form is available: https://forms.gle/LHbAwgkMBDbDy1Cw6 Poster has been made by Gareth too.
  • AGM 2023 - 6th December 8PM - more detail nearer the time.

Minutes and Actions

No actions.

Metalworking Area

Progress has been made the floor has been painted. Stud wall to go in and kickboard. Additional painting. Then electrics. More work will continue on Wednedsay evenings.

Migration to Discord

Slack will be made read only at the end of the month. Details if you need help getting access to Discord: https://wiki.nottinghack.org.uk/wiki/Discord

Do remember same protocols apply in person and on social media so be nice and follow the rules. The Trustees will add specific Discord rules soon.

Laser Cutter

New Laser is going to be moved to the space next Tuesday. Lift is not fixed but it will be moved into the space but not be operational.

Lightburn will be the new software. You can try it with a trial, see Discord for details, keys may be purchased but this will be organised after the laser is in place.

LaserCut files will not be compatible directly with Lightburn, so convert them to a intermediate format or use your original files.

Team Updates

  • Craft - peg boards to go in craft room and in some other areas for essentials.
  • Membership - 2 new members signed up tonight. New advert board for outside the main. We also need additional tour guides to join the membership team. If you want to help or know someone who does please contact the membership team.
  • CNC - We'll be building an enclosure soon.

Finances

No report submitted by the Treasurer for July yet. Bank account as of today is £20,780.06

We should be averaging £15 per member per month.

Minimum membership fees coming into place October 1st.

Question on people who cannot afford £5 per month? Long and short is due to the VAT law, accountancy practices and what Matt our Treasurer has said we cannot facilitate covering underpaying members.

Question can we have a pool of money for underpayers? Pretty much not organised by Hackspace as an organisation and Matt has ruled that out.

NB: People can do joint membership payments if they wanted to pair up, but won't be able to be centrally organised.

Mike has volunteered to talk and be a point of contact with questions over this.

Suggestions on also coming in as a guest of another member.

Any Other Business

We are moving some items from a place closing down near Nottingham Station. We need 8 people to move a bandsaw at between 12:00 and 13:00.
