Actions and Minutes of Last Meeting
No actions to report.
Happenings
Aaron - built a pager transmitter! Gareth - good social meetups arranged on Discord. Gareth - Good resin printer induction from Chris. Steve - Want to organise more robot events. Shane - Editing the wiki a lot!
Downstairs Metalworking Area
Steve is discussing with Chris Kett to do electrics. Bizspace didn't get asbestos testing in the space but they checked similar ceilings and no asbestos was found. Need to discuss the wiring work in chunks.
If anyone is interested in doing stud wall work we've got plans and need some assistance let us know if you can help with this.
Team Updates
Woodworking - New Band saw, Andrew Walters is reviewing it and we tried powering it on. Needs a bit of work and some parts.
Laser - Caught up with inductions. Teething problems with the laser are being worked on. Aware there is a sporadic problem with the laser at the moment but finding out what it is to fix it.
3D Printer - Did resin inductions. Bit ad hoc, so ask on Discord. If anyone wants to become an inductor let us know. Gareth offered to see about doing inductions
Workshops
We want to run more workshops, done by members. There were 40 workshops in 2019, see the wiki: https://wiki.nottinghack.org.uk/wiki/Workshops_2019 things like Lockpicking, CNC Engraving, Resin Printer Fundamentals, Introduction to Arduinos.
Why do we need more workshops? To get people into the hackspace, but also for the money aspect. The rent is increasing year on year. For a workshop half goes to the space half goes to the person running it after costs.
Trustee Elections
Elections nominations finish on May 6th (23:59).
If we don't get 6 nominations we will have to run another nomination window, and if that fails we have to close the Hackspace.
The commitment isn't to do everything others don't, but to help as you can doing it. Having other commitments doesn't mean you can't be a trustee. Contributing back to the space with a 2 year term is well worth it and very enjoyable.
Treasurers Report
Reports generated by Aaron suggest a small positive in October, January, February and April.
One reason we want to have more workshops is the rent increasing at the end of May and needing a deposit of £1.3K on top. This will kill the small amounts of profit we turn some months.
Membership payments will need to go up - they are not covering rent now nevermind after May's 4.5% increase.
AOB
Selling the Laser Cutter - Chris is heading this up and if you are interested in purchasing it let Chris or the Laser Team know.
