Large Tool Maintenance.

Need to discuss and arrange regular (paid?) maintenance of tools such as the Laser Cutter / 3D printer / etc. in order to maximise their being available for use.

Supplies / resources / Raw Materials.

Discuss possible change in policy regarding what can be expected to be available 'free issue'. Earlier in the life of the 'space, materials arrived via donations, or fall-out from people's projects - e.g. part-bottles of wood glue. Now we are developing a resources team to keep such materials always available. But should we? Should members expect to find all they need in the 'space, of should they expect to purchase all that they need, but if they need more, or have excess the 'space will provide? Should there be a (published) limit to what is available 'as a matter of course'?

New table saw.

Purchased opportunistically, thanks to Joe Duckhouse. Now needs installing, and this will have an impact on the availablility of the dusty area for a while, and the pledge drive needs awakening.

Finishing infrastructure projects / over-runs.

The comfy area work started in early January, and after the floor was levelled and carpet tiles fitted, it became apparent that a carpet protector was needed, cables needed tidying away, the curtains need shortening to avoid creating a trip hazard, and to improve the 'look' of the space. These are 'extras' - un thought-of 'extra' work over and above what was planned. Assigning money to a project and having a day's effort by a crowd only gets so far. Do we need to set a deadline for completion of infrastructure projects? Or have a named 'leader' tasked with completion of each stage?

Safety Team update

Whilst I would love to be in the meeting I will most likely be using the laser at 8pm (or playing Defender).

Safety team update follows:

We are currently checking with our approved suppliers for a good value job-lot of safety so we can solve this safety problem for good. I found some good cheap local safety but it was bulky and I didn't have access to a van - I had to let it pass. Undeterred, I was watching a number of ebay auctions for some used safety and trying to snipe a win at the last moment. It seems I was bidding against some very determined ebayers from the railway industry (and god knows they are desperate to secure some extra safety for the winter!). Ordering some dubious quality safety from China is, of course, cheap but the Chinese new year holidays made it impossible to secure delivery of enough safety to cover us in March in time for my workshop (juggling radioactive molotov cocktails in the spray booth whilst unicyling on a chainsaw over a pit of broken glass soaked in monkey aids)
