Too many beneficial additions to the space get knocked down before they have been tried - out of fear?
- action is everything - do it!
- try not to be discouraged - only the most trivial thing gets full concensus and works first time
- "Health and Safety" concerns? Just deal with them - not by ignoring them but by SCIENTIFICALLY quantifying the risks
- Worried about offending people/rubbing people up the wrong way/stepping on toes? Talk about it - be flexible - be reasonable - but do it anyway (perhaps modified)
- search the mailing list to see where consensus has been reached (or failed to have been reached) before - then overcome it!
