Andrew Armstrong 20:04 Roll call: Steve B, Andrew A, Ali Maq, Bob Wood, Malcolm, Gareth, Ian D, Douglas C. Coming later: Sam, and Betty (edited) 20:08 Announcements and Events Elections nomination extension ends tonight. Will run the voting this month. Hack the Space Weekend - 19th of June - alternating Saturdays and Sundays Aims: Sort more of the Blue Room, storage needs sorting again, sort out the waste downstairs ready for skip/collection (likely by "two men in a van") EMF - This week Green Festival - no further information yet but lots of time (edited) 20:09 Actions & Minutes of Last Meeting No issues with minutes (edited) 20:10 Financials VAT - waiting on update from HMRC Minimum membership fee - will need HMS changes and thus Matt to be involved (edited) Andrew Armstrong 20:33 Team Updates CNC Inductions - bridging the barrier to using the tools rather than it being mandatory. Need some parallel resources on the wiki. Completing a spinning top file with speeds as a reference. Fusion 360 - Lack of a copy of this software for Hackspace general use. Getting a copy for the space would be very expensive and be difficult to lock down. Users will be told to get their own copy in the mean time. Betty suggests organising a course (she can assist with this) with the college to do 3D Printing (2 days course) and you get Fusion 360 free for a year (educational licence) Router - Induction needs to be more tailored. Also some discussion on how the inductions may go - one on one or in a group. Sam suggests a few hours for just engraving, one on one. Set the machine up without breaking it, or yourself, and make a very simple thing. Maintenance of some aspects of the tool maintenance - will be inspected and hopefully oiled. Enclosure: Cardboard currently there for the computer Suggest get a design and costs Douglas has a design and will post screenshots of it Dust chute for cutting wood: Designed one and working out tolerancing Matt has a vacuum specced out for a dust separator Douglas will help with that Laser cutter Vending Machine: Betty has sorted a slot currently to trial the sale of samples for the laser cutter. Craft: Embroidery machine is back in the space, serviced and fully working. Exactly the same machine. 50 rows of cotton threads under the machine in the draws. Please only use them. Inductions will be revisited Cost for Embroidery Machine - £1 per hour ok? Jobs take, say for a t-shirt, 15 minutes to run Ayes for this decision. Can help pay for consumable thread, and a new machine in the future Malcolm suggests trial it for £1 and see how it goes (Steve B suggests it could be £2 even due to low runtime) (edited) Andrew Armstrong 20:49 Metalworking: Final confirmation of dates needed - 18th, 25th of June. 3 hours, lunch hour, then 3 hours. Not confirmed though if it's both days needed or not. Can't do evenings realistically, 2 hours each for 6 weeks. Need 7 people minimum, 2 people already signed up. Cost £50 for most people (if on benefits it will be free) Need a show of interest. Slack, previous metalworking induction request list and perhaps an email to members. 20:49 Note: Mike Haber joined. 20:50 Fire and Health and Safety Single phase to the saw, but the three phase isn't done for the extractor Need the power before the table saw is worked on Fire Extinguishers will be purchased before the next Hack the Space day (edited) 20:51 Hackspace 3.0 Not much to report, Joshua is working on plans and quotes still Need the space downstairs cleared as discussed 20:52 No AOB. Meeting closed.
