We have some surplus LCD panels manufactured by AEG. These glass panels have a 38 segment character font and were used in destination indicator signs on the front of London Underground trains on the Picadilly and Northern Lines. We have some datasheets and technical notes for some of the panels and we have been able to drive them from Arduinos with SPI and straight up bit-bashing.
