Blast Gates are part of the Dusty Area's extraction system.
Overview
The Large dust collector attached to the Table Saw has now been customised with three "Blast Gates". This allows the suction to be switched between three stations.
Each port has been fitted with a blast gate. Extraction is on when the slider is up.
The saw is connected to the middle blast gate and this one should be left on (up) and the other two off (down) when in normal use.
The gate on the right is connected to a floor scoop. Floor sweepings can be pushed into this scoop. Please remove large pieces of wood from the sweepings as they may block the pipe.
The gate on the left is connected to a length of 100mm hose. This will plug into the chip collector box on the planer/thicknesser. (Required induction)
Air flow to the extractor is best when only one blast gate is open. If you make use of this please return the gates to centre up, other two down on completion of the job. If you notice that the extractor filter bag is not fully erect then check the blast gates; then the hoses for blockages.
Use
The suction can be directed to each of the individual stations by opening and closing each of the gates appropriate to the station in use.
