We have two temperature controlled Multicomp soldering irons with a number of soldering tips available. These were purchased by the space after it became difficult to buy tips which we knew would be compatible with the previous "fake Hakko" irons. There are a number of compatible tips of various shapes and sizes available - they all have a model number start with MP74087

These irons will automatically turn off the heat if left untouched for 15 or so minutes. While this improves safety, it can accelerate damage to the tip. If you're leaving the iron for a bit, or turning it off, please leave a big blob of solder on the end. This helps prevent it from oxidising.
