I spent ages this month hand wiring a nixie clock. For some reason I decided that wirewrapping over 100 connections would be easier than designing a circuit board. Anyway, I'm happy with the results.

  • Pico W to keep the time in sync and bit bang out the data
  • Three 74LS595N latching shift registers. Each nibble was one digit of the clock.
  • Six (one per tube) K155ID1 BCD to Decimal decoders
  • Six IN-1 nixie tubes
  • Laser cut enclosure with dark grey paint
  • Brass feet turned on the mini lathe

Some photos of the creation.
