The network and servers group look after the network infrastructure and servers at the Hackspace.

Scope

The scope of the team includes the responsibility for the general upkeep of our servers or the services running on them.

A lot of information on what we look after can be found under the Network.

Some general Items we look after include

  • Servers, both on sites and in the cloud
  • Network infrastructure, switches, ip allocation, etc.
  • Internet connection
  • Keeping servers and services patched and up to date
  • Email address under the @nottinghack.org.uk domain

The network and server team is not responsible website content or custom software like HMS.
Though we do overlap some members with the Software Team and work closely to ensure the services are in place as needed for there software to run.

As most of our work is related to maintenance and background updates we will only report to the regular members meetings on major issues or updates

The network team is not in need of any extra help at the moment and due to the high level of sensitive access this team allows, we also need to get to know members before allowing them to join the team.
