- Bean stew and rice
- Curry and rice or chips
2 nights of food Thursday and Friday but not Saturday.
Tents and Stuff
- For an official village
- https://docs.google.com/document/d/1W6I03A2YjNW6joX4vaBseJdUh1KWUjCksFy8vU3qXss/edit
- Run own workshops and host others run by EMFCamp
- Minimum 3 hours per day of activities
- 1-2 other workshops run by others
Workshop Planning
10 tables and 30 chairs usually available.
Need to cover the 3 hours of non-Nottinghack events as well. Rota will be required probably for that too.
Talk/Workshop/Event Name | Description | Person | Workshop Tent | Duration and Times It Can | Charge? | Capacity | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Soldering Workshop | Badge soldering workshop for people who haven't soldered before - you can learn how to solder with a simple LED badge kit! Younger children can do this with parental supervision. | Andrew A, Aaron, Caroline (possibly) | Yes | 1 hour. Morning would be better. Maybe two sessions? | Yes (Maybe £3) | Drop in sessions | Use the badge kits - drop in sessions but we've limited places |
Intro to Roleplaying | Come along to join a table and learn how to play tabletop roleplaying games. You'll be provided dice, and follow a short scenario with your party! | Andrew A, Duncan | No | 2 game tables (up to 6 per table) | No | 3 hours. Friday afternoon 3-6PM perhaps. | |
Morning Pop-Up Cafe | We will be serving morning tea and coffee - please bring your own mug/flask or you can buy a mug from us (limited in supply!). We will also have some tea and coffee available through the day from a urn at our tent. | Mike H and Stan | Yes | Mornings 9 - 10AM Friday, Saturday, Sunday | Yes kinda - charge for tea/coffee | Lots | May include pastries but primarily tea and coffee |
Mini Robot Event | Build a mini fighting robot and fight them! There are limited places and the cost of the workshop includes all the kit materials to build a controllable robot. | Sam, James S | Yes | 2 hours 3PM on Saturday (3-5PM) | Yes £40 | 10 kits for robots | Laser cut bits and solder everything beforehand. Actual building should be an hour. Maybe £30-40 kit or something (yes, and/or just have some loaners that people can donate to drive for a bit, could take a while to make stuff). No wifi control Sam has an alternative method. Does this need soldering? Probably not need to check for the description. |
Tie-dyeing | You'll learn and do tie-dying of a tote bag! | Becky (probably needs second person) | Yes | Yes (TBC) | 1 hour daytime (for starting) maybe an additional 1 hour session the next day to wash it - will confirm | TBC | Needs some stuff to tie dye. Take a clothes line to have it dry on. Need some things like tote bags. Use some old members boxes too. |
Mini POV 3 kits | Build a mini-POV kit, which shows up words in the air at night when you wave it around. | Jon (needs second person at least, maybe a 3rd) | Yes | 2 hours in evening | 20 | Yes (£10) | |
Draw Your Ideas for Kids | Mike and Stan | Yes | 1 hour daytime (morning) | Small workshop | No | ||
Draw Your Ideas for Grown Ups | Mike and Stan | Yes | 1 hour daytime (morning) | Small workshop | No | Maybe drop if there is limited space | |
Solography | Build your own pinhole camera to trace the path of the Sun from winter to summer. It only takes 10 minutes to create so feel free to drop in anytime during the session! £5 per camera - all materials provided. | Gareth + Aaron | Yes | 2 hour daytime on Sunday | Yes (£5) | Drop in sessions (50 cans) | Drop in session like Soldering irons |
Arduino workshop | An intermediate Arduino workshop to learn how to code and interface with an Arduino module. The price of the workshop includes the module and breadboard. If you don't have an Ardiuno we have them for sale at £20. A laptop is required to do the programming and uploading. | Jason A, Duncan | Yes | 2 Hours Morning 10-12 Saturday | 10 People (paired people welcome) | Yes (TBC) |
|
Is there a minimum number of seats we have to fill? Definitely want to limit the number of places. Practical workshops are pretty popular.
Think about what equipment we need, how long the session will be, how many would we need to attend, etc.
Non-Workshop Ideas
- Snackspace / Tea Urn
- Not-BarBot - if Jason wants to build one
- Some kind of big artsy thing (MAYBE Ali)
- Bottle Rockets :)
