The bike racks are '''not''':
* For storing a bike for more than a day.
* As storage for a project you’re working on. These should be classed as "large projects" and be taken home with you or go in [[Large Project Storage]]
* Whilst you go to work every day (Nottingham City Council operate Citycard Cycle Hubs for this purpose).

A lot of the machines in this area are dangerous with the potential to cause significant harm. Your safety is your own responsibility.

There is a shop vac in the area that can be used for removing swarf from large machines and the floor. For small cleaning jobs there is a dust pan and brush located on the wall above the [[Metalwork Area Tray Store]].
The tools are checked regularly and maintenance is carried out as required.

Bike storage

Old short-stay bicycle parking area

The old bike storage location is being repurposed. Members can leave their bike somewhere out of the way, for example; near the old space downstairs, in the Studio area (upstairs).

You can park your bike in the space if:

  • You are hacking in the space and using the space.
  • You want a safe place to leave your bike if you want to walk into town to shop/go to the cinema etc for a short period of time (ie, a morning or an afternoon).

In respect of our bike racks:

You are welcome to use the racks in the Bike Area to store your bike in the space if:

  • You are hacking in the space and using the space.
  • You want a safe place to leave your bike if you want to walk into town to shop/go to the cinema etc for a short period of time (ie, a morning or an afternoon).

The bike racks are not:

  • For storing a bike for more than a day.
  • As storage for a project you’re working on. These should be classed as "large projects" and be taken home with you or go in Large Project Storage
  • Whilst you go to work every day (Nottingham City Council operate Citycard Cycle Hubs for this purpose).

Tools and equipment

An assortment of bike mechanic's tools available in this area. Additional tools were added in August 2021. See Bike tools for more information about each tool.
